CEDOS is the voice of senior
Economic Development professionals from across the public
sector. We carry out research, provide information,
identify and disseminate best practice and publish reports
on key issues for economic development policy and practice.
Through our collective expertise and actions, CEDOS
plays its full part in influencing, informing and helping
shape national policy and initiatives.
Economic Development and regeneration is a
key priority both nationally and locally. As our research
and evidence to Parliamentary Committees and Groups
demonstrate, the role of local authority economic development
is critical to national economic recovery, local growth
and the success of Local Enterprise Partnerships.
With the development of devolution deals as
well as local growth deals, proposals for 100% local
retention of business rates, the need for new sources
of funding to counter budget cuts, and the need to ensure
that all areas of the country are able to secure sustainable
long-term economic growth, there has never been a more
important time to be a member of CEDOS.
CEDOS meets quarterly in London to discuss
key economic development issues and share knowledge
and experience. Meetings provide the opportunity to
hear from and discuss issues of the moment with officers
from key Government Departments and other national organisations
as well as having round table discussions to hear what
is going around the country.
